1)TWO NASA ASTRONAUTS RETURN TO EARTH;

• Two NASA astronauts have returned to earth successfully ending their historic two month mission to stay on the space. 
• The astronauts are Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken. 
• It was the first splashdown by US astronauts in 45 years, with the first commercially built and operated space craft to carry people to and from the orbit. 

2)IPL TO BE PLAYED FROM 19 SEPT - 10 NOV 2020;

• IPL 2020 will be played from september 19 to november 10, in UAE. 
• The decision to this effect was taken at the virtual meeting of the IPL Governing Council. 
• The IPL Governing Council has decided to stage the tournament in UAE and the matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abudhabi subject to necessary clearancess from the government of India. 

3)UAE:FIRST COUNTRY TO PRODUCE NUCLEAR ENERGY;

• As the Barakah Nuclear  Plant's first unit got operational on 31 july, UAE become the first country in the Arab world to produce nuclear energy. 
• The new plant is part of the UAE's graph to become less reliant on oil and gas, the current source of the vast majority of its energy.

          UAE is among the worlds biggest fossil fuel producers. 

4)SCIENTISTS DISCOVERED ACTIVE VALCANOES ON VENUS;

• A study has identified 37 resently active volcanic structures of venus, the second planet from the sun. 
• The study was conducted by researchers at the university Maryland and the Institute of Geo physics at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. 

5)WORLD SANSKRIT DAY :3 AUGUST ;

• The World Sanskrit Day is being celebrated on 3 August 2020.
• World Sanskrit Day is Celebrated on the pooornima of the Shravana month in Hindu calendar. 
• The day is celebrated to focus on the ancient Indian language and promote its revival and maintenance. 

6)VIDYARTHI VIGYAN MANTHAN 2020-2021 LAUNCHED ;

• Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr.Harsh Vardhan launched 'Vidyarthi vigyan Manthan 2020 -2021 ' on august 1. 
• This initiative is a national programme for popularising science among school and college students of class 6th to 11th.
• It was designed to identity the bright minds with a scientific aptitude among the student community. 

7)FIRST EVER VYAPAR MALA EXPRESS TRAIN ;

• Northern railways ran first ever Vyapar Mala Express train on august 1, 2020.
• This train destined for Jirania in Tripura  has 46 wagons. 
• Wheat was loaded in 34 wagons at Guniana station of Firozpur division by food corporation of India and in the remaining rice and pulses have been loaded.

8)100 GENOME SEQUENCING OF SARS-COV -2;

• Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr.Harsh Vardhan has announced the successful completion of pan -India 1000 genome sequencing of SARS-COV 2.
• He also highlighted that 16 vaccine candidates are in different stages of development.
