1)MANIPUR CM INAUGURATES TWO FAST TRACK COURTS;


  • For speedy disposal of rape and POSCO related cases, two fast track courts located in Uripok and  Lamphelpat areas in manipurs state capital have been inaugurated. 
  • The formal inauguration of the courts was attended by the state CM N. Biren Singh. 
  • Such FTC's have been set up to tackle cases related to crime against women in the state. 

2)CAPT AMARINDER LAUNCHES 'PRIDE OF PUNJAB';


  • Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has launched a collaborative "Pride of Punjab" programme asca partnership between the Department of Youth Services and Sports of Yuwaah. 
  • It is a joint initiative of UNICEF, other UN agencies, civil society organization and the private sector.

         It aimed at enabling the best opportunities for punjab youth people. 

3)ONLINE PATRIOTIC FILM FESTIVAL BEGINS ;


  • National Film Development Corporation is organising a first of its kind Online Patriotic Film Festival. 
  • The festival is a part of the Independence Day celebrations by the ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 
  • The festival began on aug 7 to 21 august 2020.

4)NEW PLANT SPECIES GETS A PIONEER'S NAME;


  • A new plant species of rhe gemus Ardisia has been spotted in the biodiversity rich western ghats. 
  • Scientists have named it "Ardisia Ramaswami "after MS. Ramaswamy, who, with C. Calder and V. Narayanaswani, listed species not mentioned in J. D Hookers flora of British India. 

Did You Know? 

         Ardisia Ramaswamy (family primulaceae) is a small tree which grows to a height of about six metres. 

5)WITF APPOINTS SURESH RAINA AS BRAND AMBASSADOR ;


  • Fantasy sports gaming platform WTF sports has appointed  cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur and Suresh Raina as its brand ambassador. 
  • Raina is also joining the brand as a strategic partner. 
  • The app currently hosts three major sports, multiple playing modes, and contests. 

6)GIRISH CHANDRA MURMUR TO BE A NEW CAG OF INDIA ;


  • Former Lieutenant gov of J&K G C.Murmur will be the next Comptroller &Auditor General of India.
  • Murmur, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Gujarat Cadre will succeed Rajiv mehrishi who completes his term on aug 8, 2020.
  • He was appointed as the first LG of J&K after the formation of new UT.

7)NATIONAL HANDLOOM DAY :7 AUGUST ;


  • The National Handloom Day is observed annually on 7 july to honour the handloom weavers in the country and also highlight the handloom industry. 
  • Thr day seeks to highlight the contribution of the handloom to the Socio -economic development of the country and increase the income of the weavers.

Did You Know? 

          The union gov had declared 7 August as the National Handloom Day in  July 2015.

8)COUNTRY'S FIRST KISAN SPECIAL PARCEL TRAIN ;


  • The country's  first kisan special parcel train or kisan rail started from 7 august.
  • It transported material between Maharashtra's Devlali and Bihar's Danapur Railway Station. 
  • The kisan railway carry fruits and vegetables and will stoppages at several stations and pick -up and deliver them.
