 1)ADANI GAS INDUCTS SECOND MEMBER ON BOARD;

• Adani gas has inducted on its board total SA's India renewable energy and power head on the board. 
• Total had acquired a 37.4% stake in Adani gas to jointly expand downstream energy business in India. 
• Jose Ignacio sanz saiz, vice president at total India for gas, renewable and power will be on the board. 

2)PENTAGON AWARDS ULA AND SPACE X $653 MILLION ;

• The US airforce has awarded United Launch Alliance (ULA) and Elon Musk's space x $653 million in combined military launch contracts under the pentagons next generation, multi billion dollar launch capability program. 
• The contracts are for launch service orders begining in 2022.
• ULA will receive a contract for approximately 60% while musks space x will receive approximately 40%.

3)BCCI SUSPENDEDS TITLE SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH VIVO;

• The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the title sponsorship deal with chinese mobile phone company Vivo for the upcoming edition of IPL. 
• Vivo will not be associated with the IPL for 2020. 
• Vivo had won the IPL title sponsorship for the five years from 2018 to 2022 for a reported sum of 2190  crore. 

4)SUBMARINE OFC TO BE INAUGURATED ;

• PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate and dedicate the submarine Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) connecting Chennai and Port Blair to the nation on 10 August. 
• It will enable the delivery of faster and more reliable mobile and landline telecom services. 

5)RASHTRIYA SWACHHATA KENDRA INAUGURATED;

• PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra, an interactive experience centre on the Swachh Bharat Mission, on 8 August. 
• A tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra was first announced by PM on 10 April 2017.

6)78th ANNIVERSARY OF QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT ;

• The Quit India Movement was launched at the Bombay Session of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) by Mahatma Gandhi on Aug 8, 1942.
• In 2020, India celebrated the 78th anniversary. 

Did You Know? 

          Gandhi delivered his famous 'Do or Die ' speech during this movement. 

7)PROF. PRADEEP KUMAR JOSHI :UPSC CHAIRMAN ;

• Prof. Pradeep Kumar joshi has been appointed as the chairman of the Union Public Service Commission. 
• UPSC conducts civil service examination, to select India's bureaucrats and diplomats among others. 

8)TAWAZUN TO BUILD SATELLITE CENTRE WITH AIRBUS;

• Abu Dhabi state defence and security entity Tawazun will build a satellite assembly,integration and testing centre with Airbus in UAE'S Oasis city of AL Ain. 
• The centre also intends to manufacture components for small to medium, sized communication, Navigation and hyperspectral satellites weighing between 50 to 250 kg.
