1)GUWAHATI GETS MANHOLE CLEANING ROBOT BANDICOOT;


  • Guwahati has got its first ever manhole cleaning robot to end manual  scavenging.
  • Named "BANDICOOT" the robot has been procured by Guwahati Municipal Corporation(GMC).

Did you Know?

          The BANDICOOT robot is also the first of its kind in the world and was developed by a startup India company called Genrobotics.

2)GREEN J&K DRIVE 2020 BEGINS;


  • In Jammu and Kashmir,the wildlife protection wing of forest department has kick started Green J&K Drive 2020 at Ramnagar wildlife sanctuary.
  • This is being done in order to mark 72nd Van -Mahotsav and setting the ball rolling for monsoon plantation Jammu region.

Did You Know?

          The department has set the target of planting about 5 lakhs plants in various wildlife areas of Jammu region during the monsoon season.

3)MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND ZIMBABWE APPROVED;


  • The Union Cabinet has given ex post facto approval to MOU signed between India and Zimbabwe on cooperation in the field of traditional systems of medicines and Homeopathy.
  • The MoU was signed on 3rd November 2018.
  • It will provide a framework for the cooperation between the two countries for the promotion of traditional systems of medicine and Homeopathy.

4)DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS :30 JULY;


  • The World Day against Trafficking in persons is observed on july 30 every year to raise awareness about the condition of victims of human trafficking and to promote and protect their rights.
  • It was designated first in 2013 by the Un General Assembly.

Did You Know?

          The theme for the World Day against Trafficking in persons will focus on the first responders to human trafficking.

5)TWO GIRLS DISCOVERED NEW ASTEROID"HLV2514";


  • Two girls from Gujarat's Surat have discovered an Earth bound asteroid HLV2514 which was expected to pass our planet in the near future.
  • The asteroid is presently near Mars and its orbit is expected to cross the Earth is about on million year time.

6)TURKISH PARLIAMENT PASSES SOCIAL MEDIA LAW;


  • Turkey's Parliament had passed a government backed law regulating social media,thar critics said will increase censorship and help authorities silent dissent.
  • The law requires foreign social media sites to appoint Turkish based representatives to address authorities concerns over content.

7)STUART BROAD: SECOND TO PICK 500 TEST WICKETS;


  •  Fast bowler Stuart Broad become only the second England Cricketer to claim 500 test crickets.
  • Broad  joins James Anderson as the only two England bowlers with 500 test wickets or more when he dismissed West Indies opener,Kraigg Brathwaite for 19 on day 5 of the third test against West Indies in Manchester.

8)EARTH SCIENCES MINISTRY ANNOUNCES NATIONAL AWARDS;


  • Ministry of Earth Sciences National Awards for excellence in Earth system Science have been announced.
  • The life time excellence award is being awarded to prof.Ashok Saji for his significant contribution in the field of Geology,vertebrates paleontology and Bio stratigraphy.
