1.February 4:World Cancer Day

     
            World Cancer day is observed on the 4 February every year to create awareness about cancer and to encourage it's prevention, detection and treatment.2020 theme,I am and I will acknowledges that everyone has the capacity to address the cancer burden.
(Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally.)

2.Indian Boxers bag six gold at Golden girl championship in sweden.

           
      India's junior youth claimed  14 medals includes six Gold and won the overall championship trophy and the 'Best Boxer 'award at the golden Girl championship in Sweden.The youth team secured a single gold and four bronze medals.
(Prachi Dhankar won 'Best Boxer'award in the junior   category.)

3.APEDA-CFTRI sign MoU for Liason office in Guwahati.

 
               MoU was signed by CSIR(Council of scientific and industrial Research) -CFTRI (Central Food Technological Reserch Institute) with Agricultural and processed food products Export development authority to set up a office in Guwahati,to provide technical support to the food industries in the NE region.

4.Reduction of about 147 million kg of CO2 achieved in FAME india phase-1.

       
  In order to promote manufacturing of hybrid and Ev,dept of heavy industry formulated the scheme FAME india (Faster Adaptation and manufacturing of hybrid and EVs in india) commencing from 1 April 2015, it's phase-1 attained the reduction of about 147 million kg of CO2.
(Saving of about 59 mn litres of fuel is another achivement.)

5.Minstry of tourism to develop 15 thematic circuits in the country.

       
         Tourism ministry,under the Swadesh Darshan scheme  is developing thematic circuits in the country in planned manner.Under the scheme 15 thematic circuits have been identified for the development.Ministry also identified 17 iconic sites in the country.
(Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes help in tourism growth.)

6.Government proposes 5% of health cess on import of medical devices.

   
            To achieve the twin objectives of supporting local manufacturers and generating funds to create health infrastructure,the budget has imposed a 5% of health cess on import of medical devices.Estimates show that it would generate about Rs.2000 crore investment.
(Imports last year stood at Rs.38,000 crores.)

7.Budget 2020 increases the National Calamity Contingent duty on cigarettes.

 
              The union budget 2020-21 increased the National Calamity Contingent duty (NCCD)on cigarettes anywhere between 212% to 388% depending on the cigarette stike sizes.The imposed NCCD duty is expected to witness price rise of 7% in the sales of cigarettes.
(The NCCD duty was introduced under finance act,2001.)

8.Import duty on Green energy Equipment hiked by 20% in Budget 2020-21.

   
             To boost participation of domestic industry in the clean energy sector,Union budget 2020 proposed 20% customs duty on solar panals and EVs.Budget offered tax relief to clean energy generators.Customs duty on completely built EV buses and trucks is 25-40%.
(15% tax for new industrialists in the renewable energy sector.)

9.Amitabh Bhatt appointed new CEO (Bangalore complex) at Hindustan Aeronautics.

 
               Amitabh Bhatt has taken over as CEO of Bengaluru headquartered defence PSU,Hindustan aeronautics limited's Bangalore complex.Earlier,Amitabh Bhatt was heading the Light Utility Helicopter(LUH) project in HAL as Executive director.
